Incremental SR&ED claim opportunitity identified for pharmaceutical company

TSI engaged in work for a multinational pharmaceutical company who had been successfully claiming SR&ED for more than five years on their innovative pharmaceutical products. Upon engagement, TSI was able to identify an opportunity surrounding the implementation of an innovative software system to manage their supply chain. The resultant work was identified to increase the company’s claim by over $100K, a 20% increase over their original claim size.

Food grant program identified for a food manufacturer

For a major food manufacturer with whom TSI had been assisting with SR&ED, TSI found a unique funding program that provided money for food suppliers to invest in innovative new uses for Ontario wheat. Known as the Ontario Wheat Innovation Support Fund, only the top 3 applicants receive funding. Within 2 weeks, TSI had prepared an application that won the award and netted the client $30K in cash funding.

TSI finds SR&ED opportunities other consultants overlook in the window industry

TSI’s work for a door and window company was preceded by two other consultants who identified no SR&ED opportunities. Upon engaging with TSI, the client was able to secure a substantial refund for the organization via their use of manufacturing process improvements and improving the energy star ratings of their products.

TSI identifies additional grant programs for a hose and coupling manufacturer

For a hose and coupling manufacturer, TSI deployed a full host of funding programs, including those that support training, exporting into new markets, as well as R&D.

TSI reduces audit rate for a printed circuit board manufacturer

Before working with TSI, an electronics manufacturing client was working with another consulting group and was audited each year for the last four years. The audits consumed substantial amounts of the client’s time, and resulted in substantial delays in obtaining a  refund. Upon engaging with TSI, whereby a formal time/documentation management system was deployed and project focus was more effectively articulated, the client’s next claim was accepted as filed. The elimination of time spent supporting audits meant that more of the client's valuable time could be dedicated to optimizing manufacturing processes and improving efficiencies.

For one of TSI’s software and multimedia development clients, TSI strategized with the client and looked for opportunities in other government and private incentive programs. TSI successfully identified opportunities to utilize the Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit, resulting in a refund for the client almost equivalent in value to their SR&ED claim.
